A Storm Is Coming: Part I

Ever since Seplophile went night night for awhile and Theatre Nocturne announced their “hiatus” or whatever you want to call it, Buffalo has been crying out for some extreme metal heroes to emerge and save the fucking day. Well, as luck would have it, there is some fresh meat on the way to a stage near you for you to sink your greedy little teeth into!

So, let’s dive right in, shall we?!

#1 on the docket: Corpse Collector

If you know of this band, then you know the buzz going around is largely because it’s Tony Lorenzo’s big return to the stage after years spent on the bench after his “unfortunate incident”. What incident, you ask? Well, that’s going to be another article, so for now, just ask someone in the know. Staying focused on the band, I’d like to point everyone in the direction of the lineup as a whole and what to expect musically.

CC (I love being able to use that without meaning Cannibal Corpse), is made up of Tony Lorenzo, Mike Dagonese and Jesse Villagomez. This leads me to believe that we’re in for a lot of old school death metal influence in the sound. Whether it’s dark and crushing, fast and flammable or somewhere in between, this is an act not to miss. Thankfully, your first opportunity to catch CC is just around the corner. Check out this HUGE deal:

I know what you’re thinking. How the hell can Stamps contain that much evil? Well, I’m sure Chuck Rose and the rest of the staff are more than up to the challenge. As for the next band I’m going to mention, (ready for this segway?) you can receive a free copy of their debut demo by going to the show above.

I’m speaking of Nethergrave, another swift kick to the jaw, starring Cody Bollinger (excellent photographer, FYI), Louis DiThomas- Keller and Adam Porth. These guys just recorded with Tony Lorenzo at his new recording studio, The Loud Table. So, if you’re looking for some awesome means to get your product out there, you might want to give Tony a shout! I’m talking to you, Urdarbrunnr! Stop having nothing for me to listen to! (Awful segway #2)

As of now, Urdarbrunnr is a sick 2-piece “deathened” black metal band, who are on the verge of taking in a bassist. Aaron Helfor fronts the band on vocals and guitar, while Mike Armstrong beats the fucking shit out of his 8-piece drum kit behind him. These guys just opened our birthday bash last Friday, and the people at the bar who couldn’t see the band, had no idea it was only two guys making all that racket. Be on the lookout for these guys. They’ve been on the scene since November and things are only going to get bigger and better on their end!

Well, that’s about it for now. I don’t want to give everything away. Looks like you’ll just have to support your scene to get more info on these 3 newer acts. Furthermore, I realize I’m missing several names in here. There’s a lot more on the horizon than just the bands mentioned above, so I’m going to go ahead and make this a short series. I’ve got plans for the next few upcoming bands articles, but if you know of anyone getting their shit together in a garage, or basement, or rented space that I need to know about, leave some info in the comments below!

Thanks for reading, you crazy bastards, and I’ll see you at a show sometime!
