Your friends from Olean, NY, Smethport, PA and Villa Las Estrellas, Antarctica, AKA Dredneks will be releasing their 2nd full length album, Beast of Boredom, next month. (Click here for our review.) But what sets this album release apart from all the others you’ll hear about this year is that it’s happening 4 times. For those who don’t already know the schedule, here it is:
When asked why they were releasing the album 4 times in 4 different areas, vocalist Grant Emeigh responded with, “I am the Great Cornholio. I need TP for my bunghole.”
When we asked guitarist Devin Dewyer, he said, “This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.”
Bassist Nick Myers wasn’t very helpful either. He replied with, “His name is Robert Paulson.”
Drummer Jose Crespo had even less to say. His only comment (which was more of a question): “Buttscratcher?!”
Needless to say, Dredneks aren’t giving away their true reasons for doing these 4 gigs anytime soon. We at The Metal can only deduce that it’s because they’re from everywhere and want to give all their fanbases a decent opportunity to see them without making people travel, all the while giving themselves a big promotional boost, but what the hell do we know? I’d also like to add that Dredneks were never questioned about these shows in the first place and that the quotes above merely reflected my desire to make this article longer.
So, the question remains: Are you a true Dredneks fan? If you’re not planning on attending all 4 CD release shows then you’re probably not. And if you think about it, it’s silly not to be a true Dredneks fan, since they’re pretty much the greatest band of all time, second only to The Beatles. The girls scream even louder when the Dredneks get off their private jets though, so that’s a tough call.
Now, get off my property, you dumb sumbitch. And see you at the shows!
