20 MORE FUCKING REASONS (…to go to Buffalo metal shows)

Allow me to forewarn you:

You’ll probably consider some of these bands a stretch because of their hometowns, but trust us; they play Buffalo (or are at least talked about in Buffalo) so often, it really doesn’t matter where they’re from. Here are 20 more reasons we think YOU need to check out more Buffalo metal shows:

  1. Arcaenium– Folk/power metal. For fans of Ensiferum, Wintersun, Mercyful Fate, Lost Horizon
  2. BLACKHAND– Heavy as fuck for only bass, drums and vocals. Very similar to Dirt War, minus guitars obviously. Anger management- perfected.
  3. Blurring (Rochester)- Straight grindcore. For fans of Immortal Terror, Avulsion, Terrorizer, Assuck
  4. Dirt War– Doom, hardcore and punk have never been fused this way in this town before. For fans of Dead Hearts, Wreckage, Toxic Narcotic, Crucial Unit
  5. End of Eden (Brockport)- Melodic hardcore with metal roots. For fans of The Black Dahlia Murder, August Burns Red, The Crimson Armada
  6. Enthauptung– Atmospheric black metal. For fans of Emperor, Mayhem, Darkthrone, sadness
  7. Final Decline– Classic heavy metal. For fans of Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue.
  8. Hellcannon– Incredibly fast, precise thrash metal with old school roots. For fans of Slayer (the good albums), Death Angel, Venom
  9. Ish Kabbible– Instrumental drums (Kenny Brand from Avulsion) and bass project featuring the rhythm section of Short Attention Span Theatre. Incredible dynamics and skill. For fans of Animals As Leaders, Pelican, Primus
  10. Mavradoxa (Rochester)- Atmospheric black metal. Enthauptung, Hubris and Sertraline had a three way and Mavradoxa popped out- ready to punish you with their own blend of dread and despair.
  11. Narwhal Bloodbath (Smethport, PA)- Djent/metalcore/death metal. For fans of Meshuggah, Winds of Plague, Born of Osiris
  12. Nethergrave– Death metal from the hearts of true fans of the genre. For fans of Death, Malevolent Creation, Beyond Creation, Origin
  13. Rebel Scum– Straight, honest, dirty thrash! For fans of Municipal Waste, Death Angel, Death
  14. Sertraline– Post black metal for fans of Emperor, Katatonia, Opeth, Burzum, Sigur Ros, Where She Wept- what a list, right?
  15. Short Attention Span Theatre– “ALL OVER THE FUCKING PLACE” metal featuring some of the hottest talent in town. The vocalist has a dynamite range in both the clean and harsh registers. For fans of Protest the Hero, Dillinger Escape Plan, Iron Maiden, ALL METAL.
  16. Something Better– Screamo returns with an angry vengeance. For fans of Saosin, Senses Fail, Glassjaw
  17. The Man, The Machine– Hard rock with a metal edge. This is Ronnie LePine’s (Government) solo project. Give it a hard listen.
  18. The Scarecrow Show– Old school thrash with a sick drummer/vocalist fronting the project from the back of the stage. For fans of the first 4 Metallica albums, Death Angel, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden
  19. Tyranitar (Rochester)- Bardic metal to the core. For fans of Amon Amarth, Kings of Asgard…you get the idea…
  20. Under the Black– Metalcore with a little more hardcore in their mix. For fans of Hatebreed, As I Lay Dying, As Blood Runs Black, Comeback Kid, Snapcase
