Album Review: A Fitting Revenge- Tempus Fugit

*Written by Matt Swistak

revenge2Hailing from Rochester, NY, A Fitting Revenge are back with their new full-length, Tempus Fugit. Recorded at Wicked Squid Studios, this is their first release since 2014’s, Psychopath of Righteousness. During this time, the band went through a few member changes, but now has solidified their lineup. From melodic riffing to blast beats to catchy grooves, Tempus Fugit has a little something for fans of all genres of metal.

The first track, “Cured of Faith” starts out melodic, then really kicks in during the verse with heavier riffing and vocals reminiscent of Randy Blythe from Lamb of God.  With a couple well placed breakdowns and a more thrash-y section towards the end, this is a solid opener that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Another notable song on the album, “Time Escapes,” continues with faster melodic riffing, but slows down during the chorus to really bring the groove.  Guitarists Ledwing and Chris really show off their chops on this one with a well done dual lead and solo section. “Neuromancer” is a well written acoustic piece that displays the band’s versatility.

Consistent from start to finish, Tempus Fugit showcases the band’s ability to fuse thrash, metalcore and a bit of modern metal into a sound all their own. The band cites influences such as Pantera, Metallica, Slayer, Lamb of God, Bleeding Through, and Mastodon, which is evident throughout the album.  If you are a fan of any of these bands, I highly recommend checking out Tempus Fugit by A Fitting Revenge.

A Fitting Revenge are:
