Business Review: Hi-Fi Hits (Williamsville, NY)

There’s a brand new record store in town.

So far, my favorite thing about it is that it was founded by former Record Theatre employees. Beyond that, it’s mostly what you’d expect, but let me give you a brief account of what I experienced anyway.

The question I’ve been most frequently asked so far is an obvious one: How’s the metal selection? I’ll put it to you as objectively as I can. If you’re looking for extreme underground stuff, as many of us are used to finding at Music Matters in Niagara Falls, Hi-Fi just isn’t quite there yet. That being said, the manager informed me that he’s open to ordering just about anything as long as the assurance of a sale is present. Furthermore, the folks at Hi-Fi are constantly syncing up their inventory with their website. Visit for constant updates on what is in stock. Right now, you can find all the bands you’d expect: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth, etc.

Local bands! If you’re looking to sell your stuff in Hi-Fi, just stop in and ask the employees. It seems like such a thing is being handled on a case by case basis at the moment. The store just opened yesterday, so cut them some slack.

Then again, considering that they just opened yesterday (8/27/19), they’re doing pretty well for themselves. They’ve already got a respectable selection of vinyls, CDs (new and used), cassettes, vinyl cleaning supplies, Hollywood memorabilia, DVDs, t-shirts, posters etc. Once again, you’re not going to find anything super underground here, at least not yet, but let’s look at the big picture. Another record store just opened in WNY. The internet hasn’t drained the life out of every last physical media buyer just yet.

Stop in to 5221 Main St in Williamsville, NY today to get your fix and see what’s crackin’ at Hi-Fi!
