We are here to establish a community of fellow metal enthusiasts, and to provide an outlet where people can discuss all things metal, 24/7/365! As we are based in Buffalo, New York, our websites place emphasis on our local scene, but stick around and subscribe for a variety of content year-round.

Mike Marlinski –

Mike started WRETCHED SOUND as “The Metal Webzine” in March of 2015. Over the past 20 years, he has also performed drum, guitar, and vocal duties in a number of bands from the WNY area, including This Gun Smiles, Aspired Infliction and Of Desolation. Mike started our official podcast in June of 2019. In addition, he is currently working as a screenwriter and creative consultant. He is also a published science-fiction/fantasy author. Billie Page –

Billie Page sings in Buffalo hardcore band, Wrong The Oppressor, and is a local indie DJ. She has played in numerous bands throughout the years including Lockjaw, Halfmast, Bleed For Me, & Killshot. She has done the Buffalo Style Podcast and also writes for NoEcho.net.

Lily Livid –

For as long as I can remember, all I’ve wanted to do was be a writer. When I discovered heavy metal and it’s many variants, I knew what I wanted to write about. I picked up issues of Decibel, Alternative Press, Kerrang… and I would imagine that I worked for them. Eventually I started filling notebooks and journals with mock articles and interviews I would “conduct” and write for bands I made up. Then I started getting my hands on the albums I really wanted to hear, and I would write about them in those same journals. I came up with so many magazine names, and spent hours alone listening to metal; writing about how each song made me feel. 

One day, it all just stopped. I guess I gave up on my dream of music journalism. Somehow it was driven into my head that it was an unrealistic passion, and I shouldn’t pursue it further. So I didn’t. I forgot about it entirely. Until one day, I saw Mike Marlinski post an ad looking for someone to take on the role of a certain position with his Webzine. I reached out, and was told the position was already filled; but my passion must have spoke to him. The next day we talked more, and I came aboard as a writer. 

After publishing several articles and reviews, adding a foreword to the Metal’s book, and helping book a show under our name, I can say with confidence that this has been the best decision of my life. I’m still learning, and that will never stop. And I’m very excited to see where this Webzine goes, because where it goes I will follow.
